Mythical Creatures Repellent

Garlic is used widely here in Philippines to repel demons, spirits and other form of evil elements like aswang, tikbalang (its best description here is half human and half horse) , manananggal (a mythical creature that flies half of its body and eats flesh during night time) and others. Garlic is used as a necklace so aswang won’t dare to take a bite on you.

In other countries, they use garlic to protect themselves from vampire (a corpse that bites the neck of their victim to drink their blood). I don’t know what’s the compound of garlic that vampire hates it – this is according to the myth. I'm thinking this would be the reason : because garlic could kill blood sucking creatures like ticks, fleas and it repels mosquitoes.
